Mission PA AAP Programs

The Pennsylvania Chapter, AAP is a state level organization of approximately 2200 pediatricians who are dedicated to promoting the health and well being of children and the value of pediatric practice.

The PA Chapter is a 501-c-3 not for profit incorporated educational organization. Our main office is in Media, Pennsylvania where 28 staff work on various programs and initiatives. The PA Chapter, AAP also has staff in 6 satellite locations around the state. Many of the member pediatricians participate as advisors, trainer educators and members of state advisory committees on issues related to children’s health. The PA Chapter, AAP educates parents, professionals and the public about the needs of children.

The Pennsylvania Chapter accomplishes its mission through advocacy, education, quality improvement and practice support. In carrying out this mission, the Pennsylvania Chapter collaborates with any entities that touch the lives of children, including families, communities, media, public officials, insurers and other advocacy groups.

The PA Chapter, AAP has a 20-year history of working in a public/private partnership with federal government, PA state government and foundations to meet the educational needs of pediatric professionals and the public as well as to accomplish public health goals.  With our experienced staff, an established organizational infrastructure and our expertise in medical education, the PA Chapter AAP strives to improve the health and well-being of the Commonwealth’s children and their families.

The PAAAP administers several programs to further improve the health and well-being of Pennsylvania's children. These programs are funded through state and federal  grants, as well as some corporate and foundation donations. Core Principles PA AAP Programs
  • Pediatricians are trained to serve as the best providers of health care for children.
  • All children have the right to health care services that are covered by insurance.
  • All children should receive care provided within a medical home.
The PA Chapter, AAP is affiliated with the national AAP but is a separate 501-c-3 not-for-profit organization. We support the national AAP agenda for children and work on children's initiatives that are specific to Pennsylvania. Members of the national AAP are automatically eligible for membership in the PA Chapter; chapter dues are separate from national AAP dues. If you are not a member of the national AAP, but would like to be a member of the PA Chapter, please go to the Membership page for more information.
